There is a life plan, an idea, that has been handed down from generation to generation. The majority of us have been told this is the way to succeed, this is how it works:
- Go to school, study hard and do well. Go on to university and earn a degree.
- The level of education you get and the type of study you do, will determine your value in the workforce.
- Enter the workforce from any age – usually around 18-25 years old and work hard for the next 40 or so years.
- Retire at age 65, supposedly enjoying the remainder of your life living on a fraction of what you were earning, assuming that you have bought a house and paid it off and done everything else you wanted to while you were working for 40 years and can now sit back and enjoy it, travel or tick things off your bucket list.
Many people call this the 40-year plan, and between you and me, it’s rubbish. It no longer exists.
True, it was once common practice when we existed in the industrial age, BUT we are no longer in the industrial age! We now live in an age where information rules.
Millennials (aged 18 and a bit older) have an entirely different outlook on life than the way pre-millennials think.
Instant gratification is what they are used to, instant text messages, instant emails, instant information, instant food, instant cure. Anything that takes longer than a few seconds is too slow. However, there is a major plus side with this group – they are far more open than other generations to using faster and better solutions so long as technology is used.
Let’s be honest, the 40-year system doesn’t suit the millennials way of thinking but new and more relevant options are available to them after leaving school, especially since the idea of working 8 hours a day, 40 hours a week – doesn’t often appeal to millennials.
They prefer to operate in the online world, and the new ideas suggested in the Business of the 21st Century perfectly aligns with the ideals of this group, where they can avoid working 40 hours a week and use technology to generate their income.
The Business of the 21st Century explores strategies to allow millennials to be in business for themselves but not by themselves – this supported individualism really suits that generation – who are more determined, possibly than any generation before to live the life they dream of, living to enjoy life, rather then living life to work as the 40-year plan dictates for the majority.
With this new 21st Century mindset, the millennial generation is not facing the current income limitations outlined by the 40-year system, they position themselves in the global market employing the Business of the 21st Century strategies, and as a result – this group are becoming financially free by age 25 – living the life they love, doing what they want, wherever they want, whenever they want, however they want and with whoever they want.
So, once again, here’s the question for you to think about this week:
Are you aged between 18 and 25? If so, is it time to explore the business of the 21st century, take action and change your life?
Is it time for you to have a 21st Century mindset? If your answer is YES, we’d love to hear from you!
