Recently ARBEZ took on a new client who wanted some advice about a business idea. He had worked as a baker for a large company for the past 3 years and still loves being a baker.
The company he worked for was undergoing a restructure and he’d just recently found out he was going to be made redundant and would need to find another job in 6 weeks time!
As you can imagine this was a very stressful time for him and his family. Having always been an employee he had no idea what would be involved in running his own business, just the thought of it sounded scary!
Alex met with him and his wife and talked about their options. They discussed the best type of business structure, set realistic expectations and discussed where the money was going to come from for the start-up costs.
Alex believes we just need to know what it is that we want, and not stress too much about the how. The how has a way of revealing itself along the way.

Together they worked through a step by step plan outlining:
- The business structure
- Place of operation
- Equipment required
- Manpower required
- Opening days
- Maximum capacity
- Council requirements
- Accounting systems
- Insurance
- A cashflow forecast
It has been wonderful to see this dream become a reality.
They are now very excited to announce that their brand-new company, Pocket Bakery, will officially be open for business on 6th of August 2018 in Tauriko. All of this has been achieved within the 6 weeks that was originally needed to find a new job.
Pocket Bakery will specialise in making delicious sourdough bread, we’d love to see you support this great new local business!
